Dopamine decor? Is this a new thing? What does this even mean?
It is one of the most exciting thing to come back into mainstream in the 2020s. Lots of people in2020 were suddenly bound to their homes and realised they should feel much more joy in their spaces and began decorating in fun and funky colours, then the trend of bizarre and interesting homewares boomed and we started to see all manner whimsical trinkets and knickknacks all over the place.
You’ve heard the sound on TikTok, why are you decorating for your resale? That would essentially make you a tenant for the next owner. It is time to decorate for ourselves and the colours and weird objects that bring us joy. Decorating for life, rather than for the future.
Grey is out, colour is IN.
The main reason for starting my business back in 2020 was to bring more fun and colour into people’s homes. I searched high and low, expensive and cheap and had a really hard time finding anything that wasn’t grey, beige, black, white or any varying shade of these colours. I wanted to inject colour into my home because I was able to decorate for the first time in my adult life and it proved super difficult! So I decided to make my own. And nothing brings me more joy than seeing this trend go far and wide.
Super bright, fun colours and whimsical homewares are my JAM. This is what it means to decorate your home for the dopamine, to look at funky art on your walls, trinkets on your shelves, colour on your walls and ceilings and feel pure unadulterated joy.
What’s your vibe? Is there a colour you always wanted to decorate your room and you were never allowed? Let me know in the comments below
